Lily Allen - what IS the big deal?!?

I don%26#039;t see it - will a Lily Allen fan please take time out to explain to me what is good about her music, her and the general vibe surrounding the whole deal? - I mean, Jools Holland, for instance seems to rate her...but I don%26#039;t

Lily Allen - what IS the big deal?!?
I dont see it at all.

Infact I hate her, Rock and hip hop take all the blame for %26quot;making%26quot; people do bad things by singing about sex drugs guns etc. Lily Allen is worse!! Because her music is played all day on the radio with lyrics about prostitutes drugs and children mugging old ladies, and people seem to think that the calm music underneath makes all the difference?

People are sheep and will like what theyre told is %26quot;good%26quot;.
Reply:Her dad%26#039;s famous, and she%26#039;s a rehab kid.

It makes column inches.
Reply:Not many people see it, it%26#039;s just because she%26#039;s different. And she can talk in tune.
Reply:If it was not for her famous dad she would be working as a checkout girl in tesco,s
Reply:You%26#039;re leaning against an open door here. I listened to her album last year and she has the most boring, dull, emotionless voice ever to have a song released. She is the musical equivalent of the Emperor%26#039;s New Clothes. All the critics are so busy saying how wonderful she is but nobody will say how rubbish she is.
Reply:caedo, i make my own mind up what is good...i enjoy rock, hip hop and lily allen

there%26#039;s no general vibe, she just pretends to be common....her album%26#039;s catchy - what%26#039;s the big deal?
Reply:I like her song %26quot;Smile%26quot;.. it%26#039;s an upbeat song, although she IS talking about making her BF cry. It%26#039;s catchy. :)
Reply:I%26#039;m not really a Lily Allen fan - In fact, I%26#039;m more of a Metal music fan, but I think some of the comments so far have been quite harsh! Ive only heard that %26#039;smile%26#039; track on the radio (which is pretty damn catchy) and some other tracks on that Jools Holland New Years Eve show - and I%26#039;d rate it above a lot of the stuff in the charts today.

I wouldn%26#039;t say that having a famous dad is the main reason - I mean he%26#039;s not exactly an A-list celeb - although this will have helped a little publicity-wise.

I would say the main reason she%26#039;s being hyped is that the writers of her songs have managed to come up with a few decent catchy melodies. She shouldn%26#039;t be slated because her voice doesn%26#039;t sound like Beyonce or Christina Aguilera - her style of vocal is just the kind of gimmick that sells records these days.

The fact she%26#039;s quite attractive also helps (although it appears that not everybody here agrees with me on that one!! She%26#039;s better looking than Jools Holland%26#039;s other %26#039;flavour of the month%26#039; Amy Winehouse, now I%26#039;d like to know what is the big deal about her!)
Reply:Shes got a really common and plain voice.

Its not even singing, its talking.

But its catchy.
Reply:She is an noying. Smile was catchy but she can%26#039;t even drive because the filth took away her licence and when she goes shopping she just comes back with trainers!
Reply:It%26#039;s famous daddy syndrome.

She%26#039;s a really plain girl, verging on ugly, that can%26#039;t sing.

Her famous daddy got her the column inches and really young girls who still think swearing a lot and being unable to speak anything other than chav is %26#039;cool%26#039;.
Reply:Famous father, that%26#039;s all!
Reply:Two words- Rich Daddy
Reply:Not really into her but after listening to her %26quot;Alright Still%26quot; album a couple of times, I was hooked.

Very catchy.

Not so sure about the %26quot;general vibe%26quot; though!
